THE CARPHONE WAREHOUSE has just opened up ordering on the white version of the 3G Iphone, for the first time in the UK.

The pale-in-comparison version could only be purchased previously by wandering into the fruity company’s own shops, only now it’s opened up to a much larger marketplace.

Two models of Iphone, double the choice, double the audience of hatred. Before you go ahead and correct us with “Surely you mean four models?”, it appears from the ordering website that the ghostly handset will only arrive in a 16GB flavour. Which will undoubtedly alienate even more people along the way, well done Pomme – our work here is done.

Tariffs start at £30 and £35, with the device costing £159. This scales up to a £45 and £75 monthly fees, with the phone arriving at £59 and gratis, respectively.

We’ve always wondered on the INQ why they didn’t initially lead with this colourless version. Perhaps a meeting took place somewhere in the bowels of HQ and they decided people might tie it in with their DirtyMac and they didn’t want to put anyone off by association.

Surely the word Apple before the word Iphone would do that all by itself. With people now having another choice on their fascias we can only hope more people see the phone along with seeing it for what it really is.

Which is an over-hyped, overpriced, cliquey piece of dodgy gadgetry that is an embarrassment to be seen with. µ
